When we first arrived at Finca la Vida, we were captivated by the peace and beauty of this extraordinary place. Nestled amongst the mountains of Andalucía, with sweeping views across the countryside to the Mediterranean Sea, we immediately felt there was something special here.

From the beginning, our dream has been to create more than just a holiday retreat. We wanted Finca la Vida to become a true Sanctuary for the Soul—a place where people can slow down, reconnect with nature, embrace stillness, and experience the gentle healing that comes from simply being present.

As part of that vision, we have been working for many months towards the adoption of two rescue donkeys, Sedna and Freya, a beautiful mother and daughter pair.

The journey has required patience, preparation, paperwork, permissions, and a great deal of planning. We are delighted to say that after many months of waiting, we are now incredibly close to welcoming them home.

Creating a safe and loving environment for Sedna and Freya has been an important part of our journey. Every step has been taken with care, not only for their wellbeing, but also for the future of the sanctuary we continue to build here at Finca la Vida.

Donkeys are often described as gentle teachers. Their calm presence, quiet wisdom, and grounding energy remind us to slow down, appreciate life’s simple pleasures, and live more closely in tune with nature. It feels wonderfully fitting that Sedna and Freya will soon become part of this landscape and part of the ongoing story of Finca la Vida.

Alongside the ancient olive and almond trees, the mountain and sea views, the wildlife that calls this valley home, and the peaceful energy of the land itself, they will help shape the sanctuary we are creating—not only for animals in need of safety, care, and a place to belong, but also for guests seeking rest, reflection, connection, and renewal.

This is only the beginning. As our vision continues to evolve, we look forward to sharing more of the journey with you and introducing Sedna and Freya properly once they arrive.

After a long season of dreaming, planning, and preparing, we are almost there.
